TIPS ON STORAGE:

There a few storage options you have to choose from. Before choosing any storage solution, be sure that you're satisfied with the answers to the following questions:

  • Is the temporary storage facility secure? Who has access?
  • Can you access it if you need to retrieve something?  Is there a cost associated with it? If you can access it, what does is the facility closed?
  • Is temperature or dampness a concern with your items (furniture)?
  • If you have insurance, is your property insured while in storage? Is there additional coverage for fire, flood, etc?
  • If your plans change, what is the additional cost for extra storage time?
  • How large a space do you need?
  • What is the cost structure? Is there a security deposit? Are there late fees?

Be sure to evaluate the various options before proceeding.

Mover Provided Storage:
Some movers will also offer storage service. At this time CitiMove does not provide an established way for movers to place a quote that includes storage. If you would like to receive a storage quote on your move, please mention that in "additional items". Before choosing storage through a mover, find out how much the moving quote is with storage and without, to calculate the rate you are paying for storage. Usually this storage is not easily accessible to you or anyone else until you request the movers to move your items again.

Self-Storage with another company:
Another option is to let CitiMove movers deliver your items to a self-storage facility. Self-storage facilities are usually run by companies who make storage their primary business, so their pricing can be more competitive and they can be more flexible with their storage solutions, offering a wider variety of sizes and cost-structures. Usually self-storage centers allow you to check items in and out whenever you choose. It is essentially a large locker.

On location self-storage.
These companies bring mini-storage sheds to your house. You fill them up and they take them to their storage facility when you are done. This is not an option if you do not have a driveway or place to put the mini-storage sheds for a temporary period of time. This may also not be your best option if you will need to hire moving helpers anyway.
